Okra and Tomatoes

This is a very simple recipe for sautéed okra and tomatoes. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1 pound frozen okra, thawed and sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • ½ green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 celery, chopped
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
  • salt and pepper to taste

Steps

  1. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly browned and crisp. Drain; crumble bacon onto a plate and set aside.
  2. Add okra, onion, pepper, and celery to the pan; sauté until tender. Add tomatoes, salt, and pepper; cook and stir until tomatoes are heated through.
  3. Garnish with crumbled bacon.
